ANIMAL RESCUE

In the last decade, Detroit has lost thousands of residents leaving more than 70,000 homes abandoned. A tragic result of this resides within the animal population.Nearly 50,000 stray dogs are estimated to live in Detroit. Whether they are surrendered by their owners who can no longer afford their care or captured by one of the cities animal rescue teams, a great majority of those animals will be euthanized.

These images represent my time spent with the MHS, the only organization willing to open their doors to me in order to share this story.
